Audio tours are great: listening to a – hopefully – fascinating story, while you feast your eyes. The only pity is that device-fumbling, which takes you out of the story every time. And that’s why I think podwalks are so great! While your phone stays in your pocket, the GPS registers where you are and gives you directions, soundscapes and stories that seamlessly match where you are. The ultimate in immersive storytelling!

For the podwalk ‘Traces in Waalre’ through the countryside of Waalre, I chose the route with Nils van Keulen and wrote the stories.A walk in which you learn to see the landscape with different eyes.How time has slowly shaped the environment, but also how events in the past have left traces.Just like animals and people still do today.
