Villa Ventorum The Newt in Somerset, UK (2022)

A meticulous replica of a third century Roman villa, based on nearby archaeological finds. Not only is it a beautiful reconstruction of the architecture, including mosaics, frescoes and furnishings; but above all it’s a house that comes to life. Whether it is the smell of the soup being prepared on the wood fire in the kitchen, the fresh flowers in the vases, or the bulging wardrobes and toys lying around: everything gives visitors the feeling that they are actually visiting a Roman family.

This feeling is further enhanced during the immersive tour in which the original inhabitants show their villa. Together with Lucy Jago, I wrote the story for this volumetric audio experience. It is fiction, but based on thorough research and advice from countless experts. For the adjacent Roman Museum I came up with the concept for the children's tour and contributed to the implementation.

Contribution: concept and content development of the audio tour and the children’s tour
